Thank you for bringing your skills and vision to this project. We hope to create something that will be unique and memorable for visitors, a permanent art exhibit and a memorial to the tremendous work of W.B. Yeats.
What we ask of you
Working with the celebrity assigned to you, you will interpret their favourite Yeats poem as a visual artwork. Through dialogue and discussion with them you will collaborate to harness the visulisations and interpretations in the piece that are most meaningful to them in your own style.
The final outcome is to be an artwork which will be on public display 24/7 by means of a permanent housing on Wine St, Sligo. The finished piece must fit into the housing which will be 30” high, 20” wide, and 6” deep. It will be illuminated by a light from the celiing of the housing.
We also request development images such as working drawings, skectchbook pages, progress images etc to show as supporting materials on the web, for promotion and possibly for a touch screen consule on site.
We will shoot a small video piece of each artist at work with some discussion of the project and your work.
The finished piece must fit into the housing which will be 30” high, 20” wide, and 6” deep.
It must be made from materials that will not deteriorate over time.
It must be able to be mounted in the display unit – similar to fixing to a wall.
Working drawings, skectchbook pages, progress images must be made available during the process and on completion of the project.
Artwork frames will be made from Corten material with CNC cut wording to show the poem title and credit the funders.
The lights within will illuminate the work and shine through the surrounding lettering
We ask that your artwork be sympathetic to the space where it will be shown and the framing in which it will be housed.
